Lobster Mondays @ Jar

Here’s a meal for tonight that will get you over your case of the Mondays – jam-packed full of lobster, there is no way that this dinner can be anything but amazing.

Lobster Mondays started up at Jar last Monday with a delicious Mexican-inspired  lobster meal, and continues tonight with some more traditional lobster bake fare.   Lobster Mondays feature 3-course lobster based dinners for just $55 per person and will continue to run through August 24th.  All of the upcoming Monday night menus sound too good to miss, so we’re guessing we’ll be eating a lot of lobster this summer (which is never a bad thing, right?).

Here’s what’s included in tonight’s meal:

  • FIRST COURSE: Lobster Corn Dog with Pickled Cucumber and Apple Mustard
  • MAIN COURSE:  Fresh Maine Lobster, Fennel Slaw, Corn on the Cob, Fresh Drawn Lobster Butter, all served Family Style
  • DESSERT: Peach Cobbler withVanilla Bean Ice Cream

Each Monday night Lobster menu also features a new Jar Summer Cocktail, although booze is not included in the price of your meal. Tonight’s cocktail: a Blueberry Gimlet.  Call ahead to make reservations for dinner and make sure to mention Lobster Mondays when making your ressie.

Half Off Mondays at Off Vine

2015: Per website this deal is still valid! http://offvine.com/pdf/1-2-Monday-Night-menu.pdf

Sunday funday drinking interfere with your grand grocery shopping plans and leave you with nothing to make to eat tonight?

No fear, head to Off-Vine in Hollywood where you can enjoy a down-home style dinner for HALF OFF. Pretty much the same cost as if you made it yourself, but less cooking + cleaning required on your part.

And the menu encompases just about any vibe you’re feeling tonight. Starters include soup of the day ($3.50), an array of salads ($3.50-$5.50), grilled eggplant ($5), and duck sausage ($6.) And for dinner entrees the list is long and includes a tuna nicoise salad ($10), pecan encrusted chicken with mashed potatoes and veggies ($10), braised short ribs with taters and veggies ($12).

That’s a legit 2 course dinner for around $15. And you didn’t have to cook it or clean up after your messy food-spilling self!

Off Vine is housed in, well, a house, and its really adorable and homey; The perfect place for a casual Monday dinner. And, though you don’t need to get gussied up to dine at Off Vine, just make sure to keep your pants on at the dinner table (despite how homey this spot it, its still a restaurant… Christina apparently missed this memo so we figured we’d give you a heads up to save you much embarrassment.)

Valentino’s 40th Birthday Prix Fixe

Birthdays/Anniversaries are a lovely excuse to drink+eat in excess.

Valentino is obviously in agreement with this statement, as, in honor of their 40th birthday/anniversary, the Santa Monica staple is offering a special prix fixe menu every Monday night. Three courses, $40. Want to pair it with the perfect bottle of wine? That’ll be $40 as well.

$40 is $4/pp less than their Dine-La menu And $50/pp less than the valentine’s day menu they are offering tomorrow night. And its available every single Monday, all year long!

Here’s a look at your food options:

* First Course: Calamaretti Fritti, OR Spinach & Mushroom Salad with Pancetta, OR Tortino di Melanzane, OR Duck Crespella, OR Minestrone Soup

* Second Course: Spaghetti alla Carbonara, OR Seafood Risotto, OR 4-Cheese Rigatoni, OR Meat Ragu Lasagnette

* Entree: Fritto Misto all’Italiana, OR Chicken Peperonata & Salsiccia, OR Lasagna with Farmers Market Vegetables, Ricotta and Tomato OR Beef Grenadins

Need something sweet to finish it all off? Your dessert course will only cost you another $6.

As previously mentioned, a special list of wines will be available with each bottle costing you $40. Or, if you can’t handle a full bottle (pansy) you can opt for wine pairings tailored to your meal selections for an additional $25.

We love Birthdays… and food… and booze…

…and (on a totally unrelated note) ponies…

Monday Night Dinners @ Wood + Vine

Our brains are still a little scrambled from the weekend, so for dinner tonight I want someone to make the decisions for me.  Which is why I’m thankful for Wood and Vine’s Monday night Farmer’s Market menu.   Not only does it fall into our favorite category of being a prix fixe meal, it makes my life easier because I don’t really have to do much – no reading through a menu or even looking at a wine or cocktail list, they’ve got it covered.

Wood and Vine is a pretty new spot in Hollyweird, a good option to catch dinner before a movie at the Arclight. I’ve got to say with all the actually good new restaurants and bars opening up in that area, Hollyweird is getting a little less…..weird.  We might actually be able to call it Hollywood again.  One thing I already love about Wood and Vine – they have chicken and waffles on the menu, YUM.

Head there tonight (and any Monday in the future) for an $18 3-course meal.  The menu changes weekly, here’s what they are cooking up tonight:

  • Starter: Smoked Albacore w/ Watermelon, Feta and Mint
  • Entree: Roasted Chicken Thights with Spinach in Lemon Butter Sauce w/Tarragon and Cornbread Pudding
  • Dessert: Root Beer Float w/Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream

And, don’t forget the booze!  Add a bottle of selected wine (tonight’s is Heron Pinot Noir) to your meal for just $18 or grab a beer for $3.  Reservations are recommended.
