Sandwich Happy Hour @ Marcona

Who says happy hour needs to have booze? Ok, ok, so we probably say that…a lot. But, luckily, we are also huge fans of sandwiches so a booze-free, sammie happy hour is one we’ll gladly stand behind. After all, you can always pick up a six pack of Hef or bottle of $4 wine at Trader Joe’s on the way home, right?

Starting today, and happening every Thursday nightMarcona is launching their Sandwich Happy Hour promo.  What this means for you: show up to Marcona on a Thursday from 5:00-7:00pm, buy one of the below artfully-crafted gourmet sandwiches and get a 2nd one (of equal or lesser value) for FREE.  The available sandwiches start as low as $5, meaning you can score dinner for 2 for $2.50 a piece – insanity!  Here’s the list:

  • Marcona Chicken Pesto ($9): charred chicken, almond pesto, currant, greens, honey wheat roll
  • Bodega ($5):  fried egg, thick cut bacon, american cheese, kaiser roll

All Night Happy Hour @ Amalfi

It’s Monday, and for most of you that means: back to work, possibly back to the gym after a weekend of excess, and of course if you have good taste in television, it means a brand new episode of The Voice (battle rounds! weee! Team Blake!).  And, for those of you that live/work/play near mid-city, it now means you have a new ALL-NIGHT happy hour option every Monday night.  After all, Mondays are days when you really need that after-work drink, right?

Starting tonight, Amalfi on La Brea is extending their happy hour til closing each and every Monday night.  Happy hour starts at 5:30pm, but no need to rush in getting there, the great thing about all night happy hour is that these deals will still be waiting for you even after you brave LA traffic on the way over.

We’ve posted on Amalfi’s happy hour deals before but in case you’ve forgotten, here’s what their HH includes: you’ll get $2 off any drink (beer & wine only here folks), which means you can sling back a bottled beer for just $3 or choose one of their beers on tap for $4 a glass, if wine is more your thing, you can grab a glass during happy hour for $6.  To nosh on, they’ve got a pretty lengthy list of $7 apps during happy hour, including tuna tartare, crab cakes, meatballs sliders, fish & chips, and chicken or beef skewers.

And, all eats on this happy hour menu are just $5 a pop. Winning. (Yes, I’m still using that word.)

If you haven’t been to Night+Market yet, what are you waiting for? Tasty Thai eats, cheap Thai beer – it’s amazing.  Happy hour usually runs from 6-8pm daily but on Wednesdays, they keep it rolling til closing.

Here’s what you can nosh on (all $5 as previously mentioned)

  • fried pig tail
  • chicken wings
  • pork skewers
  • isaan sour sausage
  • herb sausage
  • papaya salad
  • pig ear fries

To wash down your order of pig ear fries, select from Thai beer ($3), some Thai-styled cocktails ($6), or a carafe of red or white wine ($11).

Yup, pig ear fries.

St. Felix Happy Hour

I stopped in to St. Felix in Weho the other night for a drink before our dinner reservations down the block and I left thinking I’d just about found my new favorite happy hour.   Is this happy hour a well kept secret or am I just out of the loop? It was amazing. AND, it lasts til 8pm. Daily. Yay!

Happy hour at St. Felix runs from 4-8p, during which you’ll get half off drinks plus a lot of delicious bites for around $5.  This means $6 specialty cocktails, $5-$7 wines and beers starting at $3. One tip – order one of the sliders that comes their delicious sweet potato fries, they are too good to be true.  The service was super friendly and fast – a perfect happy hour spot.

Plus, if you’re not in Weho, don’t forget that St. Felix has TWO locations, both offering happy hour til 8pm.  Their other spot is in the old Citizen Smith space on Cahuenga.

Extended Happy Hour Deals @ Amalfi

We love that sporting events make it acceptable to booze it up during the week.  Who really cares about being productive at work anyways? In honor of MNF and the World Series, Amalfi is extending their happy hour tonight and during every World Series game (which basically means every other night this week -yay!).

Happy hour starts at 5:30p and lasts all through the game – giving you ample time to score some discounted booze and bites.  Amalfi’s happy hour includes a menu of $7 eats, plus get $2 of any drink.  That means $3 beers, and $6 wines.  You’ve got a pretty decent sized list of options for happy hour food including chicken skewers, meatball sliders, mac & cheese, fish & chips, a cheese board and calamari.

Amalfi’s definitely classier than a sports bar so you won’t be surrounded by beer sloshing, ex-frat boys.  Plus, they’ll be showing the game on their big movie screen, so there won’t be a bad seat in the house. Order up a plate and some beers and that’s dinner for under $20!
