Possibly our favorite drinking holiday of the year, because who doesn’t love an excuse to ditch work early to drink copious amounts of margaritas and stuff yourself full of tacos? While any Mexican restaurant would be a great place to celebrate, we’re focusing this list on spots with special booze and/or food deals, so you don’t go broke while you’re getting borracho.
Atwater Village Tavern (Atwater Village): An all-day-long fiesta featuring $2 Tacos, $5 Margs, and $3 Dos Equis & Model Especials.
Border Grill (Downtown): This party is all about our motto of #DrunkFatHappy as they are featuring a $30 All You Can Eat Feast with whole roast pork, al pastor tacos, cauliflower tacos, pork chicarones, fried brussels sprouts, a churro station and a complimentary margarita. Plus $5 Mexican Drafts, $6 Angel City Lagers, $6 Border Margs, and $6 Corralejo in the bar and dining room.
Cerveteca (Downtown): Featuring $4 “Keep Your Pint” Negra Modela specials all day. Which we assume means you get to keep the glass?
City Tavern (Downtown): $5 Deals ALL DAY LONG. Weeeee! Items included in the blanket pricing: Tequila shots, Cheeseburger Tacos, Sierra Nevada Otra Vez, Coronas, and Corona Micheladas.
Hop Scotch Tavern (Fullerton): The OC seems to be gaining some steam in the foodie realm, so we thought we’d include this spot in Fullerton. Their fiesta will include $2 Tacos, Cadillac Margaritas by Casamigos, and Mexican beer.
Little Easy (Downtown LA): Adding some New Orleans’ flair to our favorite Mexican holiday, this downtown spot will feature Cajun-style Chicken or Beef Tacos for $6 a pop as well as Little Easy Nachos with Crawfish + $6 Micheladas and Half Off Tequila shots. Open 12pm – 2am.
Los Tres Hermanos (Van Nuys): We admit we’re still a bit peeved at this place for a really crappy experience ordering delivery. BUT every time we’ve eaten-in, it’s been great. And CHEAP. For Cinco they’ll be offering $2.89 Draft Beers from 3-7pm + the Modelo girls (ninas?) will be there.
Paloma Crawl in Downtown LA: Five different bars each serving their own spin on the Paloma cocktail + food specials. Crawl starts at 5pm at Library Bar with a Tamarindo Paloma; 6pm at Sixth Street Tavern with the Jamaica Paolma; 7pm at Spring St Bar with the Mango Paloma; 8pm at Beelman’s Pub with the Strawberry Paloma; 9pm at King Eddy’s with the Guava Paloma.
Pez Cantina (Downtown): This spot’s location in a corporate office building is a little off-putting at first (can good food really be served in a 1970s brown glass skyscraper in the financial district?) But the food and drinks are good – and its the perfect location if work downtown. Just be sure to Uber or Subway to work. Party kicks off at 6pm with a DJ, food and drink specials, and a costume photo booth. Live music from Rock En Espanol runs 8pm – 11pm.
RedO (WeHo, SaMo, Newport Beach): This is where we celebrated last year and it was packed, but a swanky packed. They’re doing the same deal again with all night drink+food specials + a live band. Show up early to grab a bar seat, otherwise you’ll find yourself spending the majority of your evening quietly stalking people waiting for them to leave…
Sol Cocina (Playa Vista): This party, which starts at 11:30am, features a frickin’ Margarita Luge! Order one of their $8 Grande Casa Noble Margs and you can have it served to you down an Ice Luge, just like in your fratty college days. There will also be souvenir glasses, party favors and sombreros, as well as $10 Beer + Casa Noble Shot combos. Then before you get too sloppy, from 3-8pm, there will be happy hour pricing on Tacos, Quesadillas, Tortas and Enchiladas to sop up all that tequila.
Spare Tire (Mid Wilshire): $2 Coronitas all day long + ALL YOU CAN EAT Mexican Street Tacos for $15. Bar open 10am – 11pm.
The Morrison (Atwater Village): This dog-friendly spot (seriously they provide a silver platter with treats for your doggy) started their Cinco celebration already on the 13th! Up through the 4th they’re offering a special menu of Mexican food items ranging from $10-$13, as well as drink specials featuring $5 Mexican beers, and $9 specialty cocktails. On the actual holiday – there will also be a live band + standard happy hour from 3-7pm. Open at noon on the 5th.
The Office (Burbank): Drink (beber?) it up with $4 Modelos, $4 Coronas, and $4 Margaritas, ALL DAY LONG!
The Raymond (Pasadena): Not that this is a particularly Mexican place, at all, but they’re serving up a $5 Michelada in honor of Cinco + a special menu featuring various tacos – like the Yucatan Grilled Carrot Taco and a Roasted Duck Taco. Deals available all day, open 11:30am – 2:30pm and 5:30pm – 10pm.
WP24 (Downtown): Along with some specialty margs, they will be offering $3 Tacos + house made salsas. PS: the rooftop bar is open now too – so if its sunny out this would be a fantastic spot to booze+eat.
