We love variety. Tapas bars, happy hours, prix fixe menus, and wine flights all come to mind as wonderful ways to try lots of what a restaurant has to offer, giving us the variety we crave with a price we can kinda afford.
Starting tomorrow The Capital Grille in Los Angeles has upped the ante for variety, offering not just three or four small pours of vino with their wine flights, but the option to try up to NINE different wines selected by their Master Sommelier George Miliotes. NINE wines!
The Capital Grille: Generous Pour Wine Event
When: July 12th – September 4th
What: Nine hand-selected summer wines, $25/pp with dinner
And you don’t have to drink all nine, you can pick and choose and repeat as your heart desires.
How did we find out about this fantastic event that offers such a generous amount of wine for such a reasonable price? Well we just happened upon a hand out mentioning The Generous Pour while we were guzzling down cocktails and shoveling down sliders at the Capital Grille’s happy hour!
This happy hour has quickly become one of our favorites, with really quality and filling eats along with refreshing cocktails, all for just $6 a pop.
The Capital Grille Happy Hour
When: Mon-Fri, 4:30pm – 7pm
What: Food, Cocktails & Wine, Just $6 Each.
The food menu is where this happy hour really shines, especially with their fantastic variety of available sliders. The mini-tenderloin sandwich (2 per order) is fantastic, even when the meat is overcooked the quality is good enough that its still tender and buttery. The lobster salad sandwich (also 2 per order) is also a winner, packed high with lobster between a couple broiche buns. The super greasy mozarella, proscuitto, and tomato sandwiches are a great bite, and the truffle fries are not too thick, not too thin, and very addicting.
If you’re just looking to booze after work, we really enjoyed the Stoli Doli cocktail which is basically a pineapple infused martini. The Grapefruit Buck and the Bohemian (shown above) are also winners. And if you really want bang for your buck, the $6 happy hour wines are pretty good and poured pretty-darned full.
All in all a fantastic happy hour (and if you can go when the upstairs patio is open – EVEN BETTER!)
PS: Valet parking is FREE with validation from TGC and accessible JUST east of San Vicente on Beverly Blvd.
