Yes, Friday-night Netflix binges of Scandal, complimented by Chinese take-out & a bottle of wine (per person) are great. But every so often you really should mix it up. That night-time who-is-Olivia-boning-now soap opera is doing nothing for the cultural (and intellectual) parts of your brain (though it’s probably inspired you to incorporate some awesome all white outfits into your work-wardrobe.)
This is the perfect solution: $25 prix-fixe dinner at a downtown hot spot + a concert at the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Read more…
Where to dress up + imbibe this All-Hallows-Eve.
Shout-out to our reader Victoria for the heads up on this one! With multiple courses of food, mucho bottomless boozy cocktail options and a gorgeous view of the water – this place sounds schmancy!
Brunching Spot: Cafe del Rey, Marina del Rey
Boozy Brunch Hours: Sat 11:30am – 2:30pm, Sun 10:30am – 2:30pm
Bottomless Mimosa Deal: $38 three-course prix-fixe menu that includes endless champagne, mimosas, sparkling cider (boozy??!), and bloody mary’s.
Menu Highlights: Our dream combo on this menu would start us with the beet+burrata salad, move on to the short-rib hash, and finish off with some blueberry cheese cake. The menu is a good balance of breakfast and lunch, light to heavy. Other delectable options include brioche french toast, a mozzarella+pesto chicken sandwich, rib eye steak & eggs with hash (which must be the best bang for your buck option on the menu), and an egg and bacon sandwich.
We created a book-club recently and named it Literary Lushes. It’s awesome. We all love books, we all love wine.
As a group we’re always looking for spots to dine + discuss the book, where we can bring our own vino for cheap or free. So this list was created out of a personal need, but we hope you enjoy it as well.
If you know of spots missing from the list, please let us know and we’ll get them added.

This last weekend we told ourselves ‘no bottomless mimosas’. Blasphemous, we know, but we needed a calm weekend and self restraint is a problem when the orange bubbly flows like the mighty Niagara. So we went to Dark Room.
Turns out Dark Room sells $12 bottles of bubbly + $5 carafes of OJ…. And thus debauchery quickly set in.
So much for a calm weekend.
Hangover Brunch Spot: The Darkroom on Melrose
Boozy Brunching Hours: No clue, but they kept serving us bottles of bubbly the duration of our visit (12:30-4:30 or so…) on a Sunday.
Boozy Brunch Deal: $12 Bottles of Bubbly + $5 Carafes of OJ (One carafe is enough for 2 bottles of bubbs.) $9 Bloody Mary Bar.
Menu Highlights: There wasn’t any brunchy food but the chili cheese tater tots were flippin fantastic. Fried chicken sandwich was also pretty good (though heavy on the mustard.)
Author’s Note: Its a 49er bar. Watch out: Lots of obnoxious fans were there heckling us like crazy, and there wasn’t even a Niner game on that day. Following in the classy footsteps of their coach I suppose…

That baked egg dish in the below photo looks bomb.
(Do kids still say ‘bomb’ anymore?)
The Spot: Local Table, Downtown LA
Boozy Brunch Hours: Saturday, 9am – 3pm
We have a amazing friend getting hitched this weekend in Del Mar, so we wanted to share a great spot to get boozy brunch down in her neck of the woods. Plus, this place doubles as a wine shop – so you can grab a bottle for the road for later Sunday-Funday drinking debauchery.
