Bottomless Mimosa Guide: Mud Hen Tavern

August 19, 2014

This is the rebirth of our beloved STREET.

chix-waffle-brunch-patio-980x523

Yanked this photo from their website, it’s titled: Chix Waffle… are these mini fried chicken covered in waffle batter!?!

Luckily, just like its orange predecessor, they offer bottomless ‘sparkly cocktails’ for brunch on the weekends. Yum.

Brunching Spot: Mud Hen Tavern

Boozy Brunch Hours: Sat & Sun, 11am – 3pm

Bottomless Mimosa Deal: $15 Bottomless ‘Sparkling Cocktails’ w/ entree purchase (entire table must participate – which may be annoying, but is probably smart because we definitely know a person or two who likes to ‘abstain’ only to sneak sips/chugs from our bottomless glasses later). Flavors include: Good ‘ol plain bubbly, Mango, Peach, Pomegranate, and Orange.

Menu Highlights: Breakfast Ravioli Benedict and the above Chicken Bacon & Waffle Croquettes sound fantastic. And for those that like carb-ier options, the Jalapeno Cornmeal Waffle sounds like a nice savory sweet option (especially if coated in maple syrup.)

PS: Word on the street is, MudHen is managed by some former Seattle-ites, and they will be making this spot the Hollywood-area SEAHAWKS bar this season. So excited. There will be Seahawks drink + menu specials to go along with the bottomless mimosas, so you KNOW we will be here cheering on our man Pete every Sunday this football season!

Bottomless Mimosa Guide: Post and Beam

August 14, 2014

Damn, all this food looks and sounds so good. (And yes, we seem to be on a Govind Armstrong kick. Can you blame us? He’s handsome and he cooks. It’s love.)

Another glorious looking option on the breakfast menu

Bottomless Mimosa Guide: Stafford + Mathis

August 12, 2014

We’re liking the further gentrification of downtown. Bring on the mimosas!

Brunching Spot: Stafford & Mathis Kitchen, Downtown LA

Boozy Brunch Hours: Sunday, 11am – 1pm

Bottomless Mimosa Deal: $15 Bottomless Mimosas

Menu Highlights: From what we can find online, this appears to be more lunch than brunch (which is a bit of a bummer). BUT the fact that this spot has a great big ‘ol patio and some firepits, at which we can enjoy our grub and bottomless mimosas, helps make up for the lack of eggy dishes. The best of the menu items (IMHO) are the sliders, the french onion soup, and possibly the pork cheek.

Bottomless Mimosa Guide: Sunny Spot

August 5, 2014

We were so hung over when we arrived here.

Saturday had been a  day-long booze-fest at the Rennie Pleasure Faire, so by Sunday the thought of alcohol was just painful. But alas, it was a good friend’s birthday, and so we sacked it up and headed to Sunny Spot for a boozy birthday brunch.

Fast forward to one hour, and countless mimosas later, and we’d totally forgotten about those pesky headaches and had thoroughly acclimated to our bright and colorful surroundings. So the music was a little loud, and the crowd a bit cooler than us, but the waitress rocked our socks off with her refill speed and perky demeanor.

Fast forward to three hours later (yes, they let us continue searching for the bottom of our glasses for this long!), and the music seemed just the right decibel and we were in love. Sunny Spot – you have won our brunching hearts. (And that ropa vieja? errrr-my-gerrrrrrrd, so good.)

Brunching Spot: Sunny Spot, Venice

Boozy Brunch Hours: Sat & Sun, 9:30am – 4pm

Bottomless Mimosa Deal: $15 Bottomless Mimosas, Bloody Marys, and Sunny Rum Punch (and yes, you can mix and match!)

Menu Highlights: the aforementioned Ropa Vieja is outstanding. We also tried the hangover plate and mofongo & eggs, which were both pretty good. But if we go back, its going to be for that saucy spicy pork.

Bottomless Mimosa Guide: Willie Jane

July 29, 2014

After a long hiatus, Govind Armstrong has popped up on our radar again. Though this time, much much further away from the Melrose haunt where we used to enjoy super cheap and delicious burgers and beers during a his late night happy hour at 8oz. Now we find him in Venice…. and with bottomless mimosas.

Bottomless Mimosa Deal: $15 Bottomless Mimosas!!!!

Menu Highlights: Our eyes and growing bellies are on the “Biscuits and Gravy with Fried Eggs”. For those that find that too light of a breakfast meal, you migh also consider the Smoked Brisket Hash with Fingerlings, Fried Eggs & CG Garden Greens (the addition of greens makes it healthy, right?)

Bottomless Mimosa Guide: Simple Things

July 18, 2014

Fact: there is no better brunch than that which involves freakin delicious, southern-style, sandwiches, mini pies, and bottomless mimosas. None.

So when walking down west 3rd street yesterday, we got drunk-with excitement upon happening upon this sign (okay, maybe we were a little buzzed already from happy hour, but it definitely intensified the feeling.)

Brunching Spot: Simple Things, Mid-City LA

Boozy Brunch Hours: Saturday & Sunday 11am – 4pm

Bottomless Mimosa Deal: $10 Bottomless Mimosas!!!!

Menu Highlights: To start, all the pies are all adorable and delicious. So order one. Or three. Then look to the sandwiches: the fried chicken is a personal favorite, but the pulled chicken is also fantastic. As is the breakfast sandwich. And the prime rib. And the thanksgiving. Really you can’t go wrong. (And for figure-conscious folks, the salads rock too.) We haven’t tried their full brunch menu yet, but now that they have paired their delicious food with mimosas, we’ll be there knockin’ em back very very soon.
